"Hunka, Hunka Burnin' Love"

"BAM!" said Nathan Jackson as he did his best Emeril impersonation while adding the pumpkin filling mixture to the two piecrusts.  The ATF agent was making two pumpkin pies for the big Thanksgiving feast at Chris Larabee's house, which was going to take place later that afternoon.  He hummed along with the oldies playing on the radio station as he placed both pies in the oven and then began the intricate process of cleaning up the mess he had made.  He must admit it did look like a war zone and he wondered how making two small pies could be so messy.

Nathan was still in the process of trying to clean the "disaster" area when his girlfriend, Rain, arrived.

"I'm in here," he called out when he heard her enter his house.

Rain stopped in the doorway as she took in the mess of the kitchen as well as Nathan who has blotches of flour on his face and t-shirt.  "What happened?  Earthquake?  Break-in?" she asked.

"Very funny," replied Nathan.  "I was making pies for the dinner tonight."

"I see," replied Rain as she tried not to laugh.  "Pumpkin on the ceiling should have been my first clue."

Nathan replied,  "Just wait until you try 'em . . . they're gonna be the best pumpkin pies you've ever had."

Rain nodded in understanding as she smiled.  "Well, do you need any help with the cleanup while we wait for these masterpieces to finish?"  She approached the ATF agent, reaching out she brushed off some of the flour from his cheek with her thumb.

His hand covered hers, his gaze admiring how gorgeous she looked.  Changing the subject, he said, "You look very beautiful."  He placed a light kiss on the inside of her palm.

"Thank you," she replied softly, her gaze holding his as the mess in the kitchen was suddenly forgotten.

"I'm glad you decided to come by early," commented Nathan as he took a step closer to the young woman.

Me too," replied Rain before his lips covered hers for a slow, seductive kiss, sipping at her lips as if she was a fine wine.  She moaned softly as she stepped closer to the ATF agent, savoring his intoxicating kiss and suddenly feeling lightheaded.  He whispered her name as if it was a prayer while wrapping his arms tenderly around her . . . the kiss deepening.

When the kiss finally ended, Rain murmured, "Something's burning . . ."

It took a few seconds for Nathan to comprehend her words and then he finally said, "My pies!"  He rushed to the oven, throwing the door open as smoke billowed out.  He waved frantically at the smoke to clear it away as he grabbed a nearby potholder and withdrew both pies.

Standing there solemnly he gazed at his creations, which were now burnt.  Rain slipped up behind the disappointed ATF agent and wrapped her arms around his waist, placing a light kiss on the back of his neck.

"Well, maybe we can stop at the grocery store and pick up some pies," he said as he smiled sheepishly.
